A new report from the World Resources Institute suggests a significant undervaluation of climate adaptation and resilience investing opportunities. The paper evaluated the full benefits of 320 climate adaptation investments, revealing the high and wide-ranging returns of investing in adaptation. It found that every $1 invested can potentially yield over $10 in benefits, with average annual returns of 20–27%.
While previous similar studies have primarily focused on avoided loss economics, this report takes a broader view by assigning economic value to the social and environmental benefits of such investments.
