The Bloomberg Prepare & Repair Aggregate Equal Weight Total Return Index (BPRAET) is a benchmark that tracks large public companies investing inadaptation and resilience.
This index splits across two main themes: prepare (building products, risk management, consulting, and self-storage facilities, and repair (insurers, waste haulers, power grid equipment manufacturers, engineering contractors, HVAC providers, environmental services, and hardware stores). [1]
Without including any big tech or AI stocks, it returned 11.3% a year over the last five years, about even with the S&P 500 (11.7%) and ahead of global stocks (9.8%),though it lagged over the last three years when big tech led (17.9% vs. 21.6%). [2]
This matters now, because the AI trade is showing cracks. China’s blue-chip index fell into a bear market in October, [3] debt markets are shutting out the “neoclouds,” and even the hyperscalers are borrowing to fund their AI buildout. [5]
The catch is: you can’t buy this index as no fund tracks it. [1]
But you can invest in this theme with us, as we are one of the few places to access Wellington’s Climate Strategy, one of the longest-running climate funds available, in a customizable separate account starting at $100,000, with only about 4% overlap with the global stock index. [6]
