What are the financial implications of one of the largest heat domes on record hitting the western US? Throughout the American Southwest, mid-March temperatures hit 100 degrees F, ranging from 20 to 45 degrees F warmer than normal for this time of year. The heat then expanded east toward the Rockies and Great Plains.
The potential implications of this early year heat wave are numerous, including the increased risk of drought and wildfires, sometimes referred to as a “weather whiplash” from our extremely wet winter.
